What is Recruitee

Recruitee is a recruitment platform that helps companies manage job openings, applicants, and hiring workflows in one place. It provides tools for publishing vacancies, tracking candidates, and collaborating across recruitment teams.

In this project, Recruitee became the central hiring system, integrated directly into the careers website to create a seamless experience for both candidates and internal teams.

Challenge

The existing recruitment system (8Vance) was deeply embedded into the website with multiple custom-built solutions. Replacing it impacted nearly every part of the careers experience, including job listings, application flows, and internal integrations.

Key challenges included:

  • Migrating from a heavily customized legacy system
  • Ensuring GDPR-compliant handling of candidate data
  • Supporting multiple recruiters and recruitment flows
  • Maintaining flexibility for different departments and regions
  • Avoiding technical debt during transition
  • Improving conversion and overall user experience

The challenge was to replace a complex, custom setup with a structured, scalable solution without losing functionality or disrupting ongoing recruitment.

My Role

I led the technical development, implementation, and UX design of the integration.

This included:

  • Defining the integration architecture between Recruitee and the website
  • Designing the user experience for job discovery and applications
  • Implementing the front-end and API connections
  • Ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Aligning stakeholders across marketing, recruitment, and IT

Approach

The approach focused on simplifying the system while using Recruitee’s strengths as much as possible.

Key principles:

The final solution is a fully integrated recruitment experience where the website and Recruitee function as one system:

  • Advanced filtering (department, experience, location, language)
  • Automatically generated job detail pages
  • Seamless application flow connected to Recruitee
  • Candidate data directly stored and managed within the platform
  • Multilingual support (Dutch, English, German)
  • Open application functionality

The result is a consistent, data-driven experience for both candidates and recruiters.
