LogicSteel Branding

Creating the world’s first steel software super brand

Context

LogicSteel is a software platform designed to simplify and optimize steel processing, making complex workflows more accessible and efficient. As part of the Voortman ecosystem, it needed to feel connected to the parent brand while establishing its own identity and future growth potential.

The ambition was not just to design a logo, but to create the foundation for a scalable software brand that could evolve into a full product suite.

Challenge

The core challenge was to design a logo that could operate across both industrial and digital environments, while supporting a rapidly expanding ecosystem of software products.

Key challenges included:

  • Balancing independence with a strong connection to the Voortman brand
  • Designing a logo that works across apps, platforms, print, and physical environments
  • Creating a recognizable symbol for software products and interfaces
  • Ensuring scalability for future modules, apps, and services
  • Building a visual identity that could become a long-lasting, iconic brand

The goal was to create a “super brand”: a system that goes beyond a single logo and supports an entire product ecosystem.

My Role

I led the concept, design, and execution of the LogicSteel logo and its visual foundation.

This included:

  • Defining the brand strategy and visual direction
  • Designing the logo and brandmark
  • Creating rules for scalability across products and applications
  • Developing the visual language for software and UI
  • Aligning the identity with the Voortman brand system

Approach

The design approach focused on creating a recognizable, scalable, and future-proof symbol system.

Key principles:

  • Strong connection to Voortman
Built on the same visual DNA (colors, angles, and structure) to ensure consistency and interchangeability
  • A symbol-led identity
Centered around a distinctive “S” shape representing steel and man of steel (superman), designed to be simple, memorable, and universally recognizable
  • Designed for digital first
Optimized for app icons, favicons, UI components, and software environments
  • Consistency across scales
Ensured the logo works from small app icons to large-scale branding applications
  • Built for expansion
Designed a system that supports multiple products (CAD/CAM, MRP, XR, Insights) under one cohesive identity

Solution

The final result is a modular logo system that functions as both a brand and product ecosystem:

  • A recognizable “S” brandmark tied to steel and software
  • A clean, modern wordmark aligned with the Voortman identity
  • Defined angles and geometry (35° and 70°) to ensure consistency across applications
  • A logo that works seamlessly across:
    • App icons and favicons
    • Software interfaces
    • Marketing and communication materials
    • Physical and digital touchpoints

The system extends into a full product suite, where each application has its own variation while remaining part of a unified brand.

Result

The LogicSteel logo successfully established the foundation for a new category within the company:

  • A strong and recognizable software identity
  • Seamless integration with the Voortman brand
  • Scalable system supporting multiple products and platforms
  • Consistent visual presence across digital and physical environments
  • Clear differentiation between software and machinery offerings

This resulted in the following impact:

  • Enabled the creation of a unified software brand across all products
  • Reduced fragmentation between different software solutions
  • Strengthened the positioning of LogicSteel as a standalone brand
  • Created a long-term foundation for future product expansion
  • Elevated the perception of software within a traditionally industrial domain
